What's New
Easy to use, self-evident, familar, simple; the user experience has been central to the development of BC Six, the latest version of our renowned project collaboration software. “The extranet you can build on” now boasts a new interface, more desktop integration, and improved email management, all developed with one single premise, to put ease of use at the forefront of the user experience.
Giving You More Control
- New Portal-Inspired Interface – New summary pages have been introduced with portlets to present a range of summary, server, project and related module information
- Granular Global Dashboard – The Task Dashboard provides a more granular and detailed view of outstanding tasks and their due period
- Task and Project Portlets - The Day File portlet summarises a user’s incoming pipeline of work over a prescribed period. The Project Totals portlet lists the document and transmittal types in a project, with a count of each. The Project Tasks portlet displays a summary of task information relative to a project
- Document Compare with Integrated Viewer - Files can be visually compared by using side-by-side comparisons, dynamic fade overlaying, or using automatic difference highlighting
- Project Information Portlet - Customise project summary pages with basic information, such as a project description, project owners and a project specific image
Making Time More Productive
- Enhanced Navigation Panel – Using new navigation buttons, the panel can be switched between a searchable list of projects, the reworked global dashboard, the navigation tree and shortcuts to useful functionality.
- Quick Search and 'Recent' Portlets – A configurable search portlet to find files using metadata. New 'recent' portlets for quickly returning to recently accessed projects and files.
- Revamped Batch Printing - Users can now refine selections, utilise customisable default settings and include metadata in the banners or watermarks.
Cutting-out The Pain
- Improved Location Bar - Users can clearly view their current location within a project. A new dropdown reveals the full path to the location.
- Repeat Issuing - When issuing document revisions, it is now easy to access a list of recipients of the previous versions.
- Enhanced Metadata Editing After Issuing Files – Certain privileged users can make corrections to file metadata after the file has been issued and/or revised.
- Receive Clearer Instant Email Notifications - Email notifications look more like an email and can be formatted with custom branding. They appear to have been sent by the user and include more details of any response.
Improving Information Sharing & Management
- MS Office® Integration - save files directly to BC Six within MS Office*, without having to save them locally or first close the file.
- Extract & Upload Email Attachments - The MS Outlook® .NET add-in has been extended to enable
attachments to be uploaded and tagged separately.
- Email File Metadata - Email header information (such as To, From, Subject, etc.) can now be complemented wih custom metadata, making sorting and searching even easier.
Improving Team Communication
- BC News - The news module enables authorised users to add news items and presents recent headlines on the main news page. It can be further extended to show headlines in a portlet on the main summary page
